Kooyman Lumber has been a family owned business since 1960. Originally purchased in 1960 by Marvin Kooyman it has steadily grown to become Pella’s largest supplier of building materials. In 1991 Doug Kooyman purchased the business from his father. Doug rapidly expanded the product lines offered at Kooyman Lumber and converted all operations to a computerized system.  Doug is actively involved in the building materials industry.  Currently he serves as Chairman of the Education Committee of the Northwestern Lumber Association and is also Chairman of the Board of the Iowa Lumber Association.  

 In 1998 Kooyman Lumber was recognized as  Retailer of Year by the Iowa Lumber Association.  In 2000 Kooyman Lumber was the recipient of the prestigious Excellence in Human Resources Award by the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association and in 2001  Kooyman Lumber was honored by the Pella Chamber of Commerce with their Retail Hall of Fame Award.   Kooyman Lumber has worked hard at living up to its motto of Keeping the Customer #1!

Kooyman Lumber is easy to find on 221 South Street in Pella. If entering Pella by way of the Highway 163 bypass take the Clark Street Exit into Pella to the first stop sign; take a right on South Street.   Just proceed 4 blocks east to find our showroom and warehouses.
